PrintBound turns content you create — often with an AI assistant such as ChatGPT — into a professionally printed, bound book and ships it to you. By placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility and permitted use
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to place an order. PrintBound is offered for personal and gift use only. You may order books for yourself or to give to others, but you may not resell, distribute commercially, or mass-produce books printed through PrintBound. We currently ship only within the contiguous United States (the lower 48 states); we do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, or international addresses.
2. Your content and your warranties
You keep all ownership of the text, images, and other material you submit (your "Content"). You grant PrintBound and its print partner a limited, non-exclusive license to store, format, reproduce, and print your Content solely to produce and fulfil your order, and to retain it as described in our Privacy Policy.
By submitting Content and placing an order, you represent and warrant that:
- you own your Content, or you have all rights and permissions needed to have it printed and reproduced;
- your Content does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, or other rights;
- your Content does not violate the prohibited-content rules below; and
- your use of the printed book will be personal and non-commercial.
You are solely responsible for your Content. PrintBound does not review Content for accuracy and does not, and cannot, verify that you hold the rights to it.
Photos and other people's likeness. If your Content includes a photo, image, or illustration generated from a photo of a real person — including yourself, your child, a family member, or anyone else — you additionally represent and warrant that:
- you are that person, or you are the parent or legal guardian of that person if they are under 18 and are consenting on their behalf, or you have that person's express consent (or, if they are under 18, their parent's or legal guardian's express consent) to submit their photo or likeness to PrintBound to create and print a book from it;
- this is true even for a person who appears only briefly or in the background of a photo you submit;
- you will not submit a photo of a well-known or public figure and represent it as your own personal photo; and
- you understand PrintBound and its AI tools may transform, stylize, or redraw a photo you submit, and your consent above covers that transformation.
We do not verify anyone's identity or consent, and we cannot independently confirm that a photo you submit shows only people who agreed to it — you are responsible for getting that consent before you submit a photo. If someone tells us a photo was used without their consent, we may refuse to print, cancel, or refund the order — see "Our right to refuse or cancel any order" below.
3. Prohibited content
You may not submit, and we will not knowingly print, any Content that:
- infringes a third party's copyright or other intellectual-property rights (for example, reproducing a published book, song lyrics, or artwork you do not have the right to print);
- is sexually explicit, pornographic, or otherwise adult (NSFW) material;
- defames, libels, or makes false statements of fact about an identifiable living person;
- includes a photo or likeness of a real, identifiable person who has not consented (or, for a minor, whose parent or legal guardian has not consented) to appearing in your book;
- misuses a trademark, or is likely to confuse readers about the source or endorsement of the book;
- promotes or incites hate, harassment, or violence against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic;
- sexualizes or exploits minors in any way;
- is unlawful, or facilitates unlawful activity.
This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. We may decline any Content we believe, in our sole judgment, violates these Terms or exposes us or our print partner to legal risk.
4. Our right to refuse or cancel any order
We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or stop any order at any time, for any reason or no reason — including suspected prohibited content, a rights or quality concern, a pricing or system error, or an address we cannot ship to. If we refuse or cancel your order before or after payment, your sole remedy is a full refund of what you paid, and we will have no further liability to you. See our Refund & Returns Policy for details.
5. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless PrintBound (Yak Shaving LLC) and our print fulfilment partner (Lulu Press, Inc.), along with our and their officers, directors, employees, and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- your Content, including any claim that it infringes or violates the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any person;
- your breach of these Terms or your warranties above; or
- your violation of any law in connection with your use of PrintBound.
This obligation survives the completion of your order and the termination of these Terms.
6. Copyright complaints & DMCA takedown policy
PrintBound respects intellectual-property rights and responds to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe Content submitted to PrintBound infringes a copyright you own or control, send a written notice to our designated agent that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
- identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example, the order reference or a description of the Content);
- your contact information (address, telephone number, and email);
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on its behalf.
Notices of copyright infringement claims should be sent to our designated copyright agent, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office (registration DMCA-1075230):

Upon receipt of a valid notice, we will act expeditiously, including by removing or refusing to print the material and, where appropriate, cancelling the order with a refund. Submitting a knowingly false notice may expose you to liability for damages under Section 512(f) of the DMCA.
Counter-notification. If you believe material you submitted was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may send a written counter-notification to our designated agent at the address above that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location at which it appeared before removal;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification; and
- your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice or their agent.
Repeat infringers. It is our policy, in appropriate circumstances, to terminate the accounts and refuse the orders of users who are repeat infringers of copyright.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
PrintBound is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except as required by law. Printed colors, paper, and trim may vary slightly from on-screen previews. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer- protection law that cannot lawfully be waived.
8. General
We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Effective date" above shows the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept it. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
